Chetan Patel

Senior Director & CISO | UK & US, Helaba. Chetan Patel is Senior Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer for Helaba's US and UK operations, where he is actively translating quantum risk from a future-state concern into present-day governance and board-level decision making within a regulated financial institution. A CISSP and CCSP, Chetan's work on Post-Quantum Cryptography is deliberately non-technical in its orientation: his focus is on how boards understand quantum risk, how organizations structure governance frameworks ahead of formal migration programs, and how CISOs make the case for action before regulators mandate it. He co-led an industry quantum readiness tabletop exercise in 2025 and currently drives Helaba's PQC readiness initiative across a cross-jurisdictional regulatory environment spanning DFS 500, FFIEC, GDPR, PSD2, and DORA. An active participant in FIRST's AI Security and Human Factors Security Special Interest Groups, Chetan brings to the quantum conversation a consistent conviction: that technology risk, including quantum, is ultimately a human and organizational challenge before it is a technical one.
