Joe Greenwood
Vice President, AI Strategy, Mastercard. Joe Greenwood has dedicated his career to scaling data- and AI-driven products, services, and businesses while leveraging data and technology to drive meaningful economic and social impact. Throughout his career, he has helped organizations define and realize the value of emerging technologies, translating innovation into scalable commercial growth, industry transformation, and measurable outcomes. Currently serving as Vice President, AI Strategy, Thought Leadership at Mastercard, Joe leads the development of Mastercard's global AI value proposition, strategic narrative, and positioning. He is responsible for defining Mastercard's unique role and perspective as AI reshapes commerce, enterprises, and consumer experiences. Joe led the definition of Mastercard's vision for Agentic Commerce and the deployment of AI-powered capabilities across products and services that support the end-to-end consumer journey. He also helps shape Mastercard's approach to enterprise agentic systems and agentic engineering, enabling the organization to harness emerging AI capabilities across both customer-facing and internal operations. Through thought leadership, strategic partnerships, and ecosystem development initiatives, Joe helps position Mastercard as a trusted leader in the rapidly evolving AI landscape. Before joining Mastercard, Joe founded the Data and AI practice at MaRS Discovery District, one of the world's largest urban innovation hubs, where he helped scale Canada's emerging AI ecosystem through industry partnerships and strategic initiatives. He has also held leadership roles at BlackBerry, managing secure real-time data services, and at Ordnance Survey UK, where he led the development of location-based data products and services. Joe holds a BSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia, an MSc in Geographical Information Science from the University of Edinburgh, and an MBA from Manchester Business School. He also serves as a Privacy and Access by Design Ambassador.
