Shelley Peterson
Senior Vice-President, Performance, Rewards & HR Enterprise Functions, Sun Life. Shelley Peterson is Senior Vice-President, Performance, Rewards & HR Enterprise Functions at Sun Life. In her role, she creates and executes solutions-oriented people and culture strategies that drive impactful business and HR outcomes across Sun Life’s Enterprise Functions. Since joining Sun Life in 2010, Shelley has held progressively senior leadership roles within Human Resources, including Senior Vice-President, Total Rewards and Interim Chief Human Resources Officer for Sun Life Asia from September 2024 to April 2025. With more than 25 years of experience in human capital, performance, and rewards, Shelley brings deep expertise in talent strategy, employee experience, compensation, and organizational effectiveness. Prior to Sun Life, she held leadership positions with Mercer in both Canada and the United States, advising organizations on performance, measurement, and rewards programs. Outside of her professional responsibilities, Shelley is committed to community impact and governance. She currently serves as Chair of the Board of Camp Kirk, a non-profit organization supporting neurodivergent children and youth, and has also served as an Advisory Board Member of the Greater Toronto Area Rewards Association. Shelley holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University and Copenhagen Business School, as well as a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from the University of Guelph.
